Does this TrafficMASTER vinyl require an underlayment if we covered the complete floor, 9×12 feet, with sanded plywood?
Asked by Copper June 2, 2019We put in a complete new floor. We put 2×8 PT floor joists, 3/4 in tongue and groove subfloor, felt moisture barrier, and 1/4 inch sanded plywood with very tight seams.
Answer: I think you have a good enough floor to handle the vinyl but be sure the floor is clean and smooth before you glue it down and good luck with it.
You can probably get away without it, but I wouldn’t want to. I think the underlayment will make it feel nicer when you walk on it.
